Thank you for visiting our web site.  Maintaining a healthy colon is a critical factor of your overall well being.  It is our hope that the information provided on this web site covering (natural) colon cleansing, colon cancer and colon cancer treatment will educate you on the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

Before we can understand how to keep our colon healthy, we first have to discover what our colon is and exactly how it helps our body.  The colon is located within your lower abdominal cavity.  The colon consists of the first four to five feet of you large intestines which starts at the top with its connection to the small intestines called the cecum, and ends with the part of the colon that connects the intestine to the rectum referred to as the sigmoid colon.

The colon is an important player in your digestive process.  When you eat any meal during the day the food passes through your digestive system until it reaches the colon region of your intestines.  Your colon then has the job of extracting any remaining water and nutrients out of the partially digested food (also called chyme).  The colon then stores the left over matter as waste within itself until the waste can be passed into the rectum and then out of your body through the anus.  You can see then why the colon is such an important system in your body.

If the colon is not working quite correctly it could spell some serious issues for your body.  So how exactly does your colon become unhealthy?  Well, it can be a combination of a number of things.  Every day we voluntarily, and involuntarily, subject ourselves to substances and toxins that can affect the health of our colon.  These toxins can come from the food that we eat, the drinks that we ingest, the environment we work and live in, our age, gender, genetics, exercise routines, and the lifestyle that we live.  Though some of these things are unavoidable there are still some steps that you can take to put your colon health on the right track.

The first, and probably one of the best things you can do to affect your colon health is to watch what you eat.  Now, this doesn’t mean eating rabbit food for the rest of your life, but it does mean taking certain precautions with what you eat.  Certain foods have been show to increase your risks of developing future colon issues such as colon cancer, but on the positive side, more and more research has come out of foods that actually help protect your colon.  You may also want to look at a few reputable colon cleansing diets or fasts.  Many people choose to do these regimens once or twice a year around the turning from winter to spring (which gives spring cleaning a whole new meaning) and the turning from fall to winter.

Next, is taking a look at how you live your life.  How often do you exercise?  How stressful is your life?  Do you smoke or drink alcohol quite frequently?  Yes, all of these things play a key role in the health of your colon.  Everything that you do to your body affects your entire body as a whole.  Though you may think that working at a stressful job only contributes to your headaches, or that leading a sedentary lifestyle is only going to lead to packing on a couple extra pounds, you are sadly mistaken.  Everything that you do to your body affects your entire body, especially your colon.  Simple things like working out at least three days a week, or taking a yoga class can greatly reduce your risks of contracting a colon disorder in your lifetime.

Aging is another factor that can control how healthy your colon is.  Growing older is obviously not something that we can quite yet control, but there are some ways to age better, if not even slow down the aging process.  The older you get the more often you are going to want to get regular check ups that include checking for symptoms of colon disorders, such as colon cancer.

Taking care of your colon may feel like an impossible task.  However, it’s really quite a simple process if you just sit down and make a game plan of how you are going to change your life as well as your health.  The great thing about changing your life to help your colon is that you will also be helping the overall health of your entire body.  Simple changes in diet and health routines can do wonders to improve the health and life of your colon for years to come.  Plus maybe this is just the kick start that you needed to lose a few pounds, quit smoking, or just relieve the stress that has been plaguing your life.
